Melissa McKie

Melissa Burkett McKie’s practice areas include education, local government, and employment law. She has experience representing school boards in a wide variety of matters related to special education and disability law before state and federal agencies and the federal courts. In addition, she frequently provides guidance to school boards on federal laws such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and No Child Left Behind. She also serves as a consultant to the AASB’s Policy Revision Project and has overseen the revision of the policies of numerous boards of education throughout the state.
